Hey Everyone, The first MvC3 tournament is still underway, but for those itchin' for more, we'll open up two new tournaments up for registration this Friday, the 18th, and the tournament will start the following Friday, March 25.
This time around, however, we will have two tournaments going. A pro level tournament and a general tournament for newcomers and intermediates. Basically, if you're ranked at least 500 in either Ranked Wins, Total Wins, or Win Streaks then the Pro tournament is definitely for you. For the rest of us that want good competition without fear of utter devastation then we'll have a general tournament going as well.
The reasoning behind this is that, especially with MvC, there can be huge skill gaps between players. A challenge is great but getting absolutely swept is no fun.
So what do you guys think? Is this a good idea? a bad idea? What would you propose differently otherwise?

500 is a lot of wins. Maybe make it like 500 games played. Even if you lose, you are getting better. I just don't think enough people will sign up that have 500 wins.

As far as 500 goes, I meant that as in your rank on the leaderboards not as in 500 wins. Actually, the ranked 500 person in the world, VOLTRON75, has 1231 wins.

hmmm I have been thinking, we might not fill up 32 spots for the "pro" tourney with the top 500 people, and you some people who don't play a lot are actually pretty damn good and fight on par with them.
What we can do is if people think they are good enough to roll with the big dogs they can sign up for it. But if a player is Top 500 or 1000 he is required to play in the Pro one, he cant sign up to the "Noob" one lol.

Yeah, that would work. Giving perspective participants the choice whether or not they want a real challenge while keeping pro level players from "pwning noobs" lol, is a good idea. It wouldn't make people looking for a challenge feel like their locked out of some exclusive club.
Considering we had some skilled players who just kind of forgot or didn't use their xbox for weeks on end in this last tournament, i can definitely see where you're coming from. lol

Ok registration for the second MvC3 tourney for 360 are open.
There is a PRO and Amateur tournament, if you are ranked in the top 1000 you must enter the PRO tourney if you wish to participate, people under the top 1000 can also enter the pro tourney if you feel you are up to it.

it seems there is a small problem with getting the players page updated, I think if you signed up already you will be on there once we get it working.
So yeah sign up when you can.

So is this Singles or Teams? Teams would be awesome.

Haha, they had tried team tournaments for the Naruto side of things and correct me if I'm wrong Assassin, I don't think those ended up going very well. I was only in one as a freelance and my team didn't go very far.

I think the problem comes in that, instead of just communicating between two people, you have to have good communication between six or even eight people which can be difficult when trying to keep tournaments within a certain timeframe.

Have teams, but no freelance players.
