It's only January and yet, there's already a gathering storm showing us the absolute barrage of big budget movies that are heading are way this next summer season. Here are the ones I'm looking forward to and the ones I'm dreading.
Thor - I think this is going to be mediocre. Thor's not that interesting of a character in my opinion. He's definitely no Tony Starrk.
Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows Part Two - Confession time. I've never read or seen any Harry Potter anything so I really have no opinion about this one. From what I hear though it likes like it's going to be pretty epic. I've also heard that the crew is even adding in their own content outside the book.
Sucker Punch - Here's my theory on this one. A lot of eye candy with a paper-thin, convoluted plot that has more plot holes than swiss cheese, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Kung Fu Panda 2 - I hope this will be good, but I have yet to see any real trailer for it.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - You know, after seeing an extended trailer of this,it actually looks decent. I think that dropping the extra baggage of Knightly, Bloom, and the whole Davy Jones thing will do a lot of good for this movie. Just keep the character count small, the plot light and fun and this could be a great summer movie.
Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon - Steaming. Pile. Of. Dog Crap.
Cowboys vs Aliens - I haven't seen the trailer for this one yet but I've heard a lot of people talk about it. I'll reserve my judgment for later.
Captain America: The First Avenger - This has the potential to be a very fresh and cool origin story and if any marvel hero deserves it, It's definitely Mr. Red White and Blue.
The Green Lantern - Well, Ryan Reynolds certainly looks the part. I don't know exactly where they're taking Hal Jordan's story in this one but it has a lot of potential.
The Dark Knight Rises - In Nolan We Trust. Not sure if this is going to end up being released this summer, but I felt the urge to include it.
I know there are a lot more, but these were the first ones to pop into the top of my head. I'll probably update my impressions on the other ones as I remember/discover them.
